The FAA regulates access to controlled airspace and UAS Pilots must obey these rules just like any other pilot. To ensure your project is completed in an efficient and timely manner please notify us if you are within 10 miles of any airfield. Especially if you are near a major airport. We can quickly check airspace in your area and determine if any waivers must be requested from the FAA. If a waiver is needed, in most situations clearance can be obtained within minutes. This is not always the case, so be aware that in extreme instances the FAA recommends requesting approval 90 days in advance.
If you are curious and would like to check your airspace yourself, click the link below and click "LOGIN" in the top right corner. You be redirected to the AirMap web app in a new window. You will have to agree to the terms and then you will be provided with a map. Be sure to allow AirMap to access your location information (you do not need to allow notifications from AirMap). In the bottom left above the globe click the crosshair icon and AirMap will zoom to your location and provide you with information regarding your airspace. You can also manually navigate the map as well if needed. The blue circles with gridlines are the main areas of concern. If you are in one of these circles it is imperative that you contact us ahead of time to verify your area can get a timely authorization.
Note: If you zoom in and you are in a grid square that has a red "0" in it, we definitely advise you plan ahead to allow ample time for all authorizations to be acquired from the FAA.
We do not fly in rain, snow, or any other type of precipitation. Our equipment is expensive and does not play well with water. Also, depending on your project, overcast or cloudy days can negatively affect image quality. In addition, winds and gusts in excess of 15mph can cause image stabilization issues and create safety concerns, as well as put our equipment at risk. We are not responsible for mother nature and all attempts will be made to schedule your project in the best possible conditions to suit your needs. In the event that the weather does not permit us to fly, we will notify you promptly and it will be up to you to reschedule.
There are several options for delivery of your finished project. The files we create are sometimes extremely large. Files in excess of 150Mb are not uncommon. We recommend using cloud based storage such as OneDrive or Drop Box to facilitate ease of transfer and review. We will also provide a complementary USB flash drive for delivery of any project at no extra charge.
Airspace clearance issues can usually be determined same day of request.
